Changing embedded data on mp3

Is there a way to change the embedded data on an MP3 or other audio file so that the artist/song info can be read by my sandisk mp3 player? Downloaded music is usually fine but if I rip a CD the sandisk can't read the artist/song info.

Well, depends what kind of tags your player reads. ID3v2? ID3v1? ID2v3.1? etc.

ID3d (yes d) 2 according to sandisk tech support

Try easytag. It's in the repos: sudo apt-get install easytag
