Hello,

Launch Terminal and enter "dpkg-reconfigure -a". The other way would be to open Run Application dialog by pressing Alt+F2. Enter "dpkg-reconfigure -a" and check "Run in terminal". Click Run button.

Saša answer is in principle correct, but you need to prefix the command with sudo, like:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

Note that there is a space in between dpkg and --configure and another between --configure and -a

 Awesome!.. New to Ubuntu and was putting my box back together
while updating ( not to bright eh ? ) I glitched something and it would not
update with the error

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a'
to correct the problem.

E:_cache->open() failed, please report.

Anyway ran the cure above and it is fixed.... Awesome OS with awesome support.. Thank~You!~
