I lost my entire application-places-system and all the icons, where did it all go ?

Asked by Aztec13

I don't know what happened. It's possible I pressed a hotkey to alter it, but after trying to find them and bring them back I just turned it off. So this morning when I woke up and discovered they loaded the same without proper display. The funniest thing is I was in the middle of posting a review of how spectacular ubuntu is when I had to stop telling people how great it was because, well I had to devot that time instead on fixing something.

I think you just removed the main bar. Right click the top panel and choose "add to panel" then look for the applet called "menu bar". Add it and you should be back in business. You can move to where you like.

Or, if the panel is missing, you can click on the lower panel and then select "New panel...". After that follow the Jim's procedure. The default applets are: Menu Bar, Launchers for Firefox and Evolution, Notification Area, Volume Control, Clock and Quit.

Can you help with this problem?
