Can not connect to the internet

I tried to connect my computer to the internet by using broadband that need password and user id. while I tried to connect it wont connects at all.I am using Intel(R) Pentium(R) E5300 Dual core @2.60 Ghz Processor.
The motherboard is Inlet DG31PR(Classic Series).
Please tell me what to do..
Can I access to the internet through ubuntu 9.10????

Need a little more information about how are you connecting:
What kind of hardware are you using to connect to the internet?A modem/router/usb-wifi or 3g-stick?
Where do you put internet's user&password?

I am using a ADSL modem than runs a broadband connection.
distribution= ubuntu 9.10
desktop enmvironment= GNOME 2.28.1(Ubuntu 2009-10-23)
Kernel= Linux 2.6.31-14-generic
Platform= i686

Hi sahadat, when you say adsl modem I guess you're talking about a usb
one as an ethernet one should work quite straight.
If that is the case, post here vendor/model so I can take a further
look.Also Unplug and plug your modem, then open a terminal, run "dmesg"
without quotes and paste here the 10 (or so) last lines of output,It
should told us if the device is being recognized.
