On the top panel, there will be an icon for net connection.
Right click on that and select 'Edit Connections'
Provide your password if asked,
It will open a window named 'Network Connections'.
In that click on 'Wireless' tab.
There you will find an entry named 'Auto UTStarcom' or something similar.
Select that and then click on Edit.
In a new window click on wireless security and in security option select 'WPA and WPA2 personal'
And then enter the password provided.
Click on apply.

I have created an Secured Wireless Connection to establish an connection with the modem using WEP 48/120 ENCRYPTION Key so that others cannot get connected to my modem wireless. I use a key to connect to the modem and am able to connect to the modem.
But the problem is that I need to get connected to the internet access using my BSNL User-name and Password. In XP the following step is used:
Control Panel->Network Connections->Create New Connection(under Network Tasks)->Connect To Internet->Set up my connection manually->Connect using Broadband that requires a user-name and password->ISP NAme(BSNL or other similar name)->Enter User-name,Password-> Finish
Then i double-click the shortcut icon of the created connection on the desktop just created, provide my username and password and will connect to internet.

I would like to know equivalent steps in ubuntu for these steps in XP.

While following the above instructions, instead of going to wireless tab go to 'DSL' tab.
There provide the settings.

Thanks Digvijay. I had done something other than these steps of altering the DSL and the wireless properties and have solved the problem somehow.
