Linksys WUSB100 V2 wireless adapter not enabled by rt2870 driver

Asked by kellerxp

I bought a WUSB100 Version 2 wireless adapter by Linksys for Cisco.
I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on dual boot with Windoze 7. The latter recognizes it but not Ubuntu.
I am a newbie and have read the many forums about it.
NDis wrapper doesn't work for me and I tried to compile a kernel driver as some suggest but it keeps stalling with an error 2 at the make command.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

The problem is likely that the USB ID for your wireless adapter is not defined yet in the source code file drivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870.h

The issue and the workaround procedure is described here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/350695

The solution involves editing the file rivers/staging/rt2870/rt2870.h and then recompiling your kernel.

Regards,

Mark
