install wireless adapter

Asked by Bappyachuthan

Hai,
I am using Ubuntu 9.04 desktop edition. I tried to install my Linksey wireless USB adaptor. I opened the setup.exe file using WINE. It seems that the Initial installation process was oK and the system asked to insert the USB Adaptor to finish the installation. Later a message appreared that "E:access violation" and there after i was not able to complete the installation. Again i tried to install the same CD. However it showed me that the software already installed, but i am not able to connect my wireless network. Kindly help me to rectify this problem.

Regards.

I suggest reinstalling Ubuntu 9.04 while keeping the Linksys wireless USB adapter connected to the pc during the whole installation process. During installation, Ubuntu 9.04 should normally detect and install the drivers for your wireless USB adapter.

If this does not help, please give us the exact model and make of Linksys wireless USB adapter. Also provide the output of the following command:

lsusb

This is the command LSUSB, but in small letters.
