Type into the terminal

gksudo gedit /etc/modules

Make sure that the file has the lines:

ath_pci

and

wlan_scan_sta

If it doesn't, then try adding them, and then try running the commands

sudo modprobe ath_pci
sudo modprobe wlan_scan_sta

I had this same problem and for me it was just case of entering the bios (press F2 whilst booting for me but may be different for different BIOS's) finding the hardware options and enabling the wifi card.

No idea how it got switched of mind as it was working one day then not the next and I hadn't entered the BIOS.

Hope this helps.

I agree with David Cooper, pressing F2 while booting will take you to setup menu, and from there you can find out if your wireless card has been turned off and you can turn it back on, and it should work, but if you lost the icon that allows you to search all available networks. thats a different story, I am searching for that answer now, as I type, lol...

Can you help with this problem?
