Hmmmm... I see it is listed as logical name: wlp2s0
That is actually the WiMax adapter that has traditionally never been used.
When I booted up with the Ubuntu distro - (with ethernet cable
disconnected) wifi worked perfectly fine, but was NOT using the Wimax
wireless adapter.
(I am actually writing to you from that wifi connection now.
See below:

Ah so you added an extra wireless adapter to get Web access? Is that right?

Added? No. Ive added nothing. Only hardware thats been changed n this machine is added RAM.

WiMax really didnt take off here in the US. We really dont use it.... No one broadcasts the signal.

So, to recap: I used to get wifi on this machine with the current distro of Ubuntu.... That stopped a few days ago.

I can get wifi on this machine again just not with my installed Ubuntu... I know the adapter works... and with linux... and I don't want to do a complete reinstall.

so, how do I turn the working wifi adapter back on to be recognized?

Your original output says the WiFi is disabled. If you press the keyboard shortcut to enable/disable the WiFi or switch the switch, does it work?

Nope. The LED is red. When it is on it is white.

FYI - It works otherwise booted from disk and in Win7
