wifi issues

Asked by Mathew

After updating to 20.04.1, my wifi has had consistency issues. Speeds will bounce from normal to 1mbps (remains at this speed the majority of the time). I had no issues before the update. Also all other devices on the network are working fine. No issues when using a wired connection. Tried clicking on software updates to see if there were any or any additional drivers, but updates didn't fix problem and no additional drivers were found. Tried deleting wifi network from known networks and then rejoining it, but no luck. Not sure how to proceed but would like to resolve issue.

Try:

echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ iwlwififix.conf > /dev/reboot

Reboot to test. If this doesn't work you can wind back with:

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/ iwlwififix.conf

Reboot again

Ah sorry. Autocorrect got me. There's an extra space in the command.

echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwififix.conf > /dev/reboot

Reboot to test. If this doesn't work you can wind back with:

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwififix.conf
