My ASUS USB-A56 wireless card not detected

Asked by Kamel Hamard

Hi,

I installed the version desktop 19 of Ubuntu and I'm not able to get my usb wireless card detected.
I downloaded the drivers from ASUS web site and tried different web site proposing the drivers for my usb device but it didnt work due to compilation errors.

Thanks for your support.

In one of your support web site you are asking to run the command bellow

According to your output the device is detected, but the driver crashes.

Is the wireless device enabled in the BIOS?
Do you have the latest BIOS?
If you have a switch to disable/enable the WiFi then press it
If you reset the BIOS to failsafe then reconfigue it does it work OK?
Is Ubuntu fully updated?
Is this a dual boot system?

Thanks

Did you shutdown the Windows OS then cold boot to Ubuntu. Sounds like Windows is holding the device

Hi,

Yes, I did. I googled the problem in internet and downloaded the drivers
from the web site of Asus. The problem is that I cannot compile the drivers
due to the fact that the interface provided in Ubuntu 19.10 changed.
This is what people are complaining about.

Regards

This is why I asked for the source of the driver that you have currently installed, but you apparently overlooked that comment.

From which source did you install the rtl8812au driver software?

What is the output of the commands:

dpkg -l | grep rtl8812
modinfo rtl8812au
