Urgent!Wireless Networks Are Not Displayed - Ubuntu 16.04 LTS - HP 250 G4

Asked by Greatness on 2018-07-25

I can't connect to the wireless network again because they aren't displayed on the top right corner of my screen(nm) . Initially it was displayed and I connected to the available networks now it is not displayed anymore. I wanted to connect to eduroam and my university's wifi.

I have restarted network manager using the commands.

Method of Installation: ON DIsk drive

Pc Model: HP 250 G4

Below is the output!

Manfred Hampl (m-hampl) said : #1

According to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx you should use the bcmwl-kernel-source driver.

Jeremy (wa113y3s) said : #2

Download and install http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/restricted/b/bcmwl/bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb

The bcmwl package had not been updated for the 4.15 kernel yet in xenial-update repos, it might be in -proposed

Greatness (g-reatness) said : #3

Good afternoon, when used the link that @Manfred sent to me to install the driver, i got this error

modprobe: FATAL: Module wl not found in directory /lib/modules/4.15.0-20-generic

Therefore I used @Jeremy suggestion also with this link https://askubuntu.com/questions/1037366/ubuntu-wifi-drivers-not-working-after-getting-update and it worked.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Greatness for more information if necessary.
