dmesg | grep -i firm

Thanks

D Vamsi Krishna (vamsidv) said : #2

vamsi@vamsi:~$ dmesg | grep -i firm
[ 0.117022] ACPI: [Firmware Bug]: BIOS _OSI(Linux) query ignored

vamsi@vamsi:~$

Thanks

I found this
https://medium.com/@elmaxx/rtl8821ae-wifi-drivers-in-ubuntu-16-04-4c1286524afa

Your kit is quite new so you may want to try a newer kernel. It may support your WiFi chip on its own:
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2018/01/install-linux-kernel-4-15-in-ubuntu-linux-mint/

Jeremy (wa113y3s) said : #4

In terminal enter the following commands

sudo apt-get install git dkms

git clone -b extended https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new.git

sudo dkms add ./rtlwifi_new

sudo dkms install rtlwifi-new/0.6

Reboot

D Vamsi Krishna (vamsidv) said : #5

According to the medium article, "lspci | grep Wireless" gives me nothing.

Updating to a newer kernel also did not solve the problem.

D Vamsi Krishna (vamsidv) said : #6

I've also tried Jeremy's solution, but even this method did not solve the problem.

Jeremy (wa113y3s) said : #7

What is the result from terminal for

modinfo rtl8823be

If it says module not found, do

rm -rf rtlwifi_new

Then run the commands from my other post again

You will need to wait for this bugreport to get fixed:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-oem/+bug/1745081

Your wireless adapter is not supported yet.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask D Vamsi Krishna for more information if necessary.

To post a message you must log in.
