How to open a port in Linux Mint 2.2 for Azureus BitTorrent?

Asked by TheFOG

I just need to know the step by step procedure for opening a port for my bittorrent traffic to get through the Linux Mint 2.2 (Bianca) built in software firewall. My problem is NOT caused by my routers firewall, because even when I kill the routers firewall almost no data will get through....... In Windows, I have no trouble at all, with download speeds. Frequently I will get a 350MB file in less than an hour, and that's through my router and ZoneAlarm. .... I like the Mint 2.2 very much, and not having to spend so much time fooling around with "exterminating" software is a blessing, but if I can't get my BT files through, I'm afraid that would be a deal breaker! ...... Please, PLEASE help me !!

PS: I did not install a firewall in the OS, Outside of installing Thunderbird e-mail, and Azureus BT client, the system is virgin .

Sure, Brickson, ..... I found and installed "Ktorrent", a far superior client that works flawlessly with Bianca. I heartily reccomend it! The only reason I wanted "Azureus" was that I used it successfully in WinXP.
