wifi install problem dlink-dwa182 on 14.04 w/ kernel 4.4.0-53

Asked by OG

I have a Dlink DWA182 wifi adapter, rev C -- but driver from Dlink can't seem to work upon installed.

Use the one from : git clone https://github.com/abperiasamy/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux

It was working yesterday, but I did some other package install (MOOC related), turned off the computer, and the next day, was not working at all.

Tried all the steps:
sudo make clean
sudo make
sudo make install

But when tried to execute: sudo modprobe -a rtl8821au, always get error : registered key not found.

Did the whole MOK.der and MOK.priv key registration (including entering password upon booting on the shim module).
Got MOK.der registered successfully, but when executing: sudo modprobe -a rtl8821au, still get the same error: registered key not found.

If you unplug and replace in the device after logging in and run:

dmesg | tail

What is the output please?

After reboot, login and plug-in the wifi adapter, but before enabling wifi (so connected via ethernet only):

otto@OG-1:~$ dmesg | tail
[ 79.444093] cfg80211: (2457000 KHz - 2482000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (300 mBi, 2000 mBm), (N/A)

After running the above command, and turning on wifi, the connection seems fine.

But, often, on another occasion, upon reboot, got error message, system unstable, and the error message indicates, something like unable to handle call ffffff.........etc... (seems like somekind of hexadecimal number).

However, on another reboot, I did not get this error, and the wifi is functioning just fine.

thanks,

OG

In my opinion, the issue is this:

 Release Date: 09/19/2016
Serial services are supported (int 14h)
 Manufacturer: System manufacturer
 Product Name: System Product Name
 Serial Number: System Serial Number
 Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
 Product Name: Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA
[ 1.150171] i915_bpo 0000:00:02.0: Direct firmware load for i915/skl_dmc_ver1.bin failed with error -2
[ 1.150173] i915_bpo 0000:00:02.0: Failed to load DMC firmware [https://01.org/linuxgraphics/intel-linux-graphics-firmwares], disabling runtime power management.

You are using very new Skylake hardware. Release date is September 2016.

Better to run Ubuntu 16.04 and to use kernel 4.8.0-30-generic on Ubuntu 16.04 instead of using kernel 4.4 in Ubuntu 14.04.

Hope it helps.

Can you help with this problem?
