Wifi not working in ubuntu

Asked by Meenakshi Sundar Sugavanam

The problem started with me upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS from 14.04 LTS. Try reinstalling network-manager several times and it does not help.

The internet works when connected via Ethernet.

Any pointers/suggestions would be appreciated.

Here are the diagnostic information about my interfaces as follows,

The WiFi has an IP. If you run:

echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" | sudo tee /etc/resolv.conf > /dev/null

Does it work OK?

@actionparsnip

I tried the below command

echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" | sudo tee /etc/resolv.conf > /dev/null

and it worked and I was able to connect to my WIFI. But the problem is it keeps disconnecting for no reason even when I am sitting next to my router.

Also, I noticed this problem crops up when I resume my computer from sleep.

Did the WiFi work before you ran the command?
