evolution smtp: "no route to host"

Asked by fritz

error in evolution: no outgoing mail, error message: "no route to host". internet and incoming mail works fine.
the problem does not occur with the other (windows) pcs accessing the same router.
router ip: 192.168.0.253

any idea how to resolve ? i'm new with ubuntustudio, just installed it on a separate machine.

didn't even think of the ports settings, as you can do in outlook. it seems there is no possibility in evolution to edit pop and smtp ports. installed thunderbird, changed smtp port from default 25 to what my provider needs=587, thunderbird works fine now.

NOT TRUE!

Just type the port you need right in to the address, e.g.

smtp.gmail.com:587

Job done. Ok, it's not a separate box in the UI, but it works fine. =)
