Please first read this:

https://wiki.debian.org/zd1211rw

http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents&keywords=zd1211&mode=filename&suite=trusty&arch=any

http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?mode=filename&suite=trusty&section=all&arch=any&keywords=zd1211rw.ko&searchon=contents

Please connect your PC to the wireless router using a working, WIRED Internet connection.

Then run these Terminal commands:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install linux-firmware linux-image-extra-3.13.0-24-generic linux-image-3.13.0-24-generic

Then reboot your PC and choose kernel 3.13.0-24-generic in the GRUB menu to boot kernel version 3.13.0-24-generic

Then retest wireless.

If that procedure does not work, then I highly recommend selling your wireless USB adapter and getting a new one that works out of the box in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Wireless USB adapters are dirt cheap anyway.
