wifi. cannot access Netgear WG102 on Ubuntu 15.04

Asked by guyw

Hi
I've set up my Asus Zenbook as dual boot. I can access my Netgear Wg102 wifi access point (SSID: BKBAP102) easy on Windows 10, however in Ubuntu I cannot, I can see the access point but it just will not let me connect to it. My tablet and phone work fine with the AP. i've tried rebooting, factory reset, switching off security on the access point but nothing. If I choose to switch the wifi on my router I can access that from Ubuntu [the router wifi signal is weak, hence I have a wired linked to the AP which I normally use as the sole [better] wifi source]. I've spent hours on this with no joy, so would really appreciate any further hints.

There is a lot of wireless interference with other wireless routers who are transmitting on the same channel (channel 1 and 11).

Please log into the homepage of your wireless router using a working, wired Internet connection and using a web browser.

Then change the wireless transmission channel on your router to channel 6.

Also force the router to use Wireless-G speeds (54 Mbps) to stabilize the connection.

Then reboot the router and reboot your PC.

Then retest wireless.

Hi Mark, thanks for suggestion. I changed channel to 6 and forced Wireless-G, rebooted wireless AP and computer, and still nothing, then switched to 4 and tried that since that channel looked less busy. attach out.
