Wireless Troubleshooting Procedure

Asked by Stephen

 Hello,

I followed the directions at the following Ubuntu page (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WirelessTroubleshootingProcedure) to troubleshoot the issue with inactive wireless after an install to the hard disk of Ubuntu 11.1. The computer is a Dell D620 with Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-card. Per the instructions I have copied the output from the Terminal after running the code provided. Any help would be appreciated!

Stephen

Terminal Output:

You should update to Ubuntu 12.04 or 14.04 as they are still supported. After upgrading, with a working ethernet try the following in terminal before installing any broadcom-sta driver

sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
sudo modprobe -r b43
sudo modprobe b43

Thanks - I'll give that a try.

Oneiric is EOL and not supported in any way

I suggest you perform a clean install of Trusty. Trusty is LTS and supported til April 2019.

You can restore your user data from your backups.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Stephen for more information if necessary.
