Cant find the computers IPnr

Asked by bosse

Where can I find the actual IP-adress to the computer in the computer? Is it as in Windows where one has to look into the terminal and ask for ipconfig to see it?
I use dhcp from a router in my LAN. I thought the IP-adress could be seen in the network-pane under the administrative tools, but the fields are empty. Though the connection is active. I am able to surf the webb, and the computer is registered in the router.

Open a terminal and type:

ifconfig

Look for a connection similar to 'eth0' and find the 'inet addr:' field. This is the IP address for your LAN connection.

Thanks. That solved my problem. It is as in Windows then. Though the command is slightly different.
