sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The 3.8 kernel and higher supports your wireless chip. You are using 3.2 but the dist-upgrade should haul in a newer kernel.

…not in all situations.

You might have to install a recent backport kernel with:

sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic-lts-trusty
