You should issue the command from the wireless troubleshooting procedure when the computer is connected to a wired network.
In your original post you wrote "wired connection works well", so we assumed that you can connect that computer to the internet via cable, and that you can copy/paste the command.

when i restsrt it it says that the disk driver for dev/mapper scripswap.1 is not ready yet..
,or something like that,
then it's waiting for a network configurating and gives up and brings up the desktop..

do u think i should try and re-install ubuntu again?

Revision history for this message
Manfred Hampl (m-hampl) said :

The error message might have been "The disk drive for /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 is not ready yet or not present", indicating a problem with the encrypted swap file.

If you have not yet created many private files and changed much in the configuration of your system, you could really consider a complete reinstallation. You should not enable enhanced features like swap file encryption or home directory encryption. In my opinion the level of added security is limited, but you get a greater chance of things going wrong.

now it wont re-install because it doesnt configure the network...
what to do?
it's a brand new computer and i have erased the windows while installing the ubuntu..
???

The cryptswap message is rather usual. It is displayed when the crypt mapper for the swap parition is not configured yet in the boot process. It is going to be availble a few seconds later.

then what should i do?
i cant re-install, cause it wont recognize any network and doesnt approve any archive mirror that i choose...
is there a way to figure out and recognize the internet without re-installing?
is there a shorter command that i can manually copy to the terminal to check it through?
thank you!

From what medium are you attempting to install? If you have a DVD or a USB stick prepared for installation (as described on http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop ) you can boot from that device and use the "try Ubuntu" mode. This mode should allow you to run a Ubuntu system from that installation medium.

What hardware do you have for connecting to the internet? A local modem, router, WLAN router, mobile Broadband stick...?
You should try to connect your system with a LAN cable to your router/modem and try using the web browser to check whether you get an internet connection. You could also try connecting to WLAN in that mode, or try using a mobile broadband stick.

When one of these possibilities is successful in the "try Ubuntu" mode, you should be able to use the same when then doing the Ubuntu installation.

i used usb
in the unetbootin menu i get before activating the installation there is no option for "try ubuntu" mode..

i have a router with a lan cable and wi-fi

i have tried also using my mobile as a modem, but it doesnt allow typing anything in the network connections window.. nor does recognize anymore the lan connection... which worked fine last night..

the lan cable is connected, but it doesnt recognize it.. :(((

Please read this:

http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/msg109955.html

Your wireless adapter is very new and only supported in kernel version 3.11 or newer.

So I suggest booting Ubuntu 13.10 in a LiveUSB session and testing wireless during the LiveUSB session.

Ubuntu 13.10 contains kernel version 3.11.0-12.19. Hopefully that kernel is recent enough....

Try:

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

Does it start working? There is a native driver for the chip.

yes!!! it's working on 13.10!!!
what would u reccomend?
should i install 13.10 although it's not LTS???

It only takes an upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04 LTS to get back onto an LTS version.

See here for list of LTS releases:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS

I don't see any problem with installing Ubuntu 13.10, if you have successfully tested ALL functions of your PC in the LiveUSB session (sound, wireless, graphics, animation, etc....)
