Please open a Terminal and execute the following commands:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic

sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source

Then reboot your PC and retest wireless.

Both the approaches i get below error

Problem is apparently not present in Ubuntu 13.10 which will be released in October this year.
