How to Backup data from a FreeBSD Server (Raid1) using Ubuntu ?

Asked by Subhranshu Dwivedi

Dear All,

I am huge fan of Ubuntu live CD, through which I always take backups on the fly and recover data as and when needed,

Now what we have here is FreeBSD system whose filesystem (/) needs to be recovered,

We have two hard disks (160gb each) with Raid 1 setup using raid controller,

I am able to boot in with ubuntu 12.04 live cd, and can see on fdisk -l both drives on zfs filesystem, however i am not able to mount them and get to the data,

It would be kind if some one can help me on this.

Thanks

Subhranshu

Mount the RAID array in liveCD and copy the data as you need. Why do you not have a backup system which would mean you don't have to mess around like this...?

I suggest you look into a backup solution. This would have avoided this whole charade. Think about it.
