Hi!

I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
Having problem with my vodafone mobile usb stick.

When I plug it in, OS recognizes it:

I configured correct connection parameters in network settings, but when I try to connect I get:

For all actions I used network tab in Ubuntu desktop. I didn't manually edited any conf files.

Any help is very welcomed.

Mario.

Hi!

Tried it. Didn't help. I reverted all changes to initial state.

Now, today Ubuntu released some updates regarding networkmanager.

When I connect USB stick, I see wwan0 interface (same as before last ubuntu updates):
6: wwan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN qlen 1000
    link/ether de:43:59:b6:73:1a brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
    inet6 fe80::dc43:59ff:feb6:731a/64 scope link
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

But, now, when I try to connect, I see some more info in /var/log/syslog:

These 2 lines caught my eye:

Apr 11 22:55:07 polario NetworkManager[845]: <warn> pppd pid 5251 exited with error: pppd options error

Is there something regarding ppp configuration that needs to be changed manually or some package to be installed?

Still searching for the solution.

Best regards,

Maybe this help someone like me (that got stuck on a similar problem).
I have found this https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=835153
and I have applyed with success the following workaround:

    $ sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

and appended the line

    # NetworkManager not running pppd through my ZTE K3765-Z properly
    blacklist qmi_wwan

Then rebooted, and all worked fine.
