How do I set up a wireless adaptor in Ubuntu 12.04

Asked by dustbindiva

I upgraded to version 12.04 in order to use the Netgear wireless adaptor because I was told that my previous version 10.04 was too old. I cant find any System or Preferences menus on this version but just give me the instructions anyway on how to install the adaptor. Do I install ndiswrapper packages as one source said?

The Netgear adaptor came with a CD but for Windows so it doesnt work for Linux.. I am using a wired PC and an ethernet cable from the ISP to get online. I want to be able to have a wireless connection only since my building is all wireless. The Netgear adaptor is WNA1100.

I have only one O.S. on my computer, the Linux, not Windows. It was installed when I bought it. If no one can tell me how to set up the wireless connection I suppose I have to get another computer with Windows and use the CD I got with the adaptor from AT&T.

Thank you.
