Lenovo x201 wireless turns off without warning
When I start my computer (Lenovo X201 Dual Booting Kubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7) the wireless works and I can successfully connect to the internet. However, after a short period of time (1-10 minutes) the wireless shuts off and I am unable to re-enable it unless I restart. I am able to connect to the internet using ethernet, but it is quite a pain. This problem has persisted even with a fresh install.

Wait for the issue to occur then run:
sudo lshw -C network; lsb_release -a; uname -a; dmesg | tail; sudo rfkill list
Copy the text to a text file and save it, then get the wifi back up and paste the text here as an upate
Thanks

This wireless issue could be linked to the following kernel bug:
https:/
I suggest installing and booting Linux kernel 3.7 (release candidate 6) and forcing your wireless router to use Wireless-G speeds (54Mbps) instead of Wireless-N speeds to stabilize the wireless connection.
You can get kernel 3.7 (release candidate 6) here:
http://
Also make sure that your wireless router is not transmitting on the same wireless channel as other routers in your vicinity.

I installed kernel 3.7 and checked the router (no changes were required to the router), but the problem persists.

Hi,
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:
Step 1:
If you are using the Gnome interface, open the Terminal console via "Applications-
If you are using the Unity interface, the easiest way to open the Terminal is to use the 'search' function on the dash. Or you can click on the 'More Apps' button, click on the 'See more results' by the installed section, and find it in that list of applications. A third way, available after you click on the 'More Apps' button, is to go to the search bar, and see that the far right end of it says 'All Applications'. You then click on that, and you'll see the full list. Then you can go to Accessories > Terminal after that.
The methods in Unity are:
Press Control-ALT-T key combination.
Dash > Search for Terminal
Dash > More Apps > 'See More Results' > Terminal
Dash > More Apps > Accessories > Terminal
Step 2: Please copy-paste the following command from https:/
Tip: If you have a wheel mouse or 3 button mouse you do not need to type commands into the Terminal. Highlight the command written on the page. Move your cursor anywhere in the Terminal and press the wheel or middle button. Automatic Copy and paste! No spelling mistakes! No Typos! No other errors!
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hwinfo grep rfkill; sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scan | egrep -i 'chan|ssid'; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread. The troubleshooters here need to see the full Terminal output from running the above command.
Regards,
Mark
