Try disabling ipv6 with the boot option:

ipv6.disable=1

Also, in directory /etc/modprobe.d, remove the line "blacklist rt2800pci" (or comment it out with a #) in every file. Looks like a leftover from when the rt2800sta driver was used from earlier releases.

I ran again the above command and it did few mods (also asked me to run apt-get autoremove). Now, it looks like, the problem is fixed.
