WEP, WEP2, WPA and WPA2 are security protocols for wireless networks. Its your wireless card that defines what it can and can't understand.

WEP is not very secure. WEP2 is not very well supported, WPA and WPA2 are both reasonably supported and secure.

With relativity modern PCs I personally would not use anything less than WPA,

If your laptop and router will both support it I would change to WPA or WPA2. If not you either have to accept that you can't use you laptop on wireless or use the less secure but better than nothing WEP.

If you let us know the make and model of both your PC and your router we may be able to advise which protocols are supported and advise in how to set wifi up.

A quick look at the spec for your laptop suggests it can handle WPA. I would set the router and PC to use WPA encryption.

Can you help with this problem?
