HUAWEI E367 how to operate?

Asked by Matthias Hermjakob

Hello

I would like to operate the HUAWEI Surf Stick E367 HSPA+ (by German o2) with the Ubuntu 12.04 version.

When I plug in the stick, there is no functionality at all. Simply nothing happens.

What can I do?

I read on many blogs and in many posts here in Launchpad and else where, that this bug is supposed to have been fixed since Ubuntu version 11.04 or already 10.xx .
But still it does not work with my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Please help me with that.
I am wasting my money paying for the stick without really using it.

Thank you.
Matthias

Hello

I am sorry that I answer so late on this comment to my question. I missed this update, somehow.

Anyway, this is the output of the command

lsb_release.....

matthias@matthias-X120-X170-X171:~$ lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb

I hope it helps it anyway.
The Surfstick still does not work :(
It's kind of frustrating.

Thank you a lot, anyway.

Seems like today's updates in both ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 ( modem-manager and usb-modeswitch ) solved some issues.
If you cannot use your mobile broadband modem yet using Ubuntu Network Manager, try : sakis3g utilty. It's an utility should allow you to connect your modem to Internet. It works perfectly for me.

when you download it, browse to the directory where sakis3g executable is and run :

sudo sakis3g --interactive in terminal.

Then, follow instructions. You must know your operator APN, username, password and PIN if needed.
Instructions are in sakis3g website.
You might need to report a bug upstream (gnome network manager) to notify that your modem is not supported yet.

Can you help with this problem?
