How do I port forward with Ubuntu Server?

Asked by Rykuu Disaga

I am bran-spankin-new to all this stuff so please give as much description as you can, and if you can, explain how all this works so that I can do it myself in the future...

Heres my problem:

I am trying to run a Minecraft server with Ubuntu Server, and I am able to make it work (only took 5 hours after OS instalation). Now I can play on it as it is connected to my router, but my friends cannot. I apparently have to do some port forwarding for the port 25565, but I havent the slightest on how to do this. Please give me a step by step on doing this.

info I am told you may need:

Modem: speedstream 4300
Router: Linksys - BEFSR81

Thanks in advance,

You need to access the web page for the config to setup the port forward. I suggest you grab your manual (or an online one) and see how it's configured. It may also be called virtual server too.

Can you help with this problem?
