ubuntu 12.04 still fails to establish VPN connection.

Asked by Aliaksei

Having this problem since 11.04.
Seems like this is long-term bug that haven't been fixed yet.

When try to establish VPN connection on new Ubuntu 12.04 I am still coming up with the message 'VPN service failed.'

Things, that I have already tried:
1) Tick/Untick 'Available for all'
2) Adding refuse-eap=yes in gconf-editor
3) Various hints that popped up from Google.

My syslog:

I think yes, because I saw a couple forum posts that it is definitely a bug. I didn't post this issue to the bugtrack.

I have experienced exactly the same bug.

The interesting thing is that when I made I clean install of the Ubuntu 12.04 distro, the VPN connected with no problem at all, and after a few days it just didn't work anymore. This es my syslog info:

I think it arises sometimes with Windows-based VPN servers. So probably related to MSCHAPv2 implementation or something.

I don't understand how this works... It's been a while since this problem appeared, we have provided a lot of information, there's a lot of people affected by the bug and still there's no "Assignee" to the case??

What do we need to do to get some attention? How does this is supposed to work?

For anyone still having problems, go to: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/VPN
Scroll down to where it says "VPN setup using the command line."

This helped me solve my problem in 12.04 and I hope it helps you as well.
This is just a suggestion as a workaround for those who need to work while a real solution comes up.

I have this problem with all the latest crappy Linux distros, Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Mint (Mate & KDE versions). This thread is typical of the 'supposed' "community" of freetards, you see, using a vPN means paying for something so there will be few if any responses.

Problem solved for me by going back to a proper professionally developed OS

Can you help with this problem?
