Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - network settings

Asked by Vytis Dedonis

Hi,

I'm using mobile broadband for connection to the internet.
In the network settings I've changed default settings from "Aeroplane Mode ON" to "OFF", made Wireless OFF, made Mobile broadband "ON" and checked Connect automatically check-box. Then I connected via Mobile broadband to the internet.

However, next time I boot a PC it doesn't connect to the internet and I have to enable Mobile broadband from menu bar to get connection.
When I checked network setting I noticed that Aeroplane Mode is back to the original set up - "ON". When I change it to "OFF", close settings program and open it again it is changing back to "ON".
WiFi and Bluetooth indicators on PC are all the time OFF.

Is this a feature or a bug?

Installation: 11.10 along side Windows HP via Wubi, upgraded to 12.04
Equipment: DELL Latitude D410 with docking

Thanks,
Vytis

Disable the ability of the device to wake up the system as well as disable power management, both are done in device manager

Thanks for the update.
I assume that these actions have to be performed on Windows XP operating system.
Is this correct?

Should I make disablements for some particular device (Wireless network, mobile broadband modem or some other) or for all devices that have such feature?

Thanks,
Vytis
