My Wireless device is not working properly .

Asked by IGS on 2012-03-26

Hy everyone .

I'm new to Ubuntu , I've installed it just a few days ago and I can't get my wireless to work . On windows I have more than 4 available networks but on Ubuntu sometimes it finds my network and sometimetimes it doesn't . But even when it finds it I can't connect to it .

I have a MSI CR620 Laptop .

Here is the result of some commands that I've read about on some other posts :

Hi,
Here it is the output of those 2 commands :

 lsb_release -a

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS
Release: 10.04
Codename: lucid

uname -a

Linux ubuntu 2.6.32-39-generic #86-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 13 21:50:08 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux

And thanks a lot for your quick answer .

Does it work in an Oneiric liveCD?

IGS (igs-darkranger) said : #5

No , I've installed Ubuntu using Wubi .. I'm not using a liveCD .(If that's what you mean)

No, I mean make a liveUSB or CD or Oneiric and see if it works. Lucid has old kernels and drivers which are known to work but sometimes you may need the newer stff in the newer releases

IGS (igs-darkranger) said : #7

You mean to reinstall ubuntu from a liveUSB ?
One more thing , I've also had installed Ubuntu 11.10 before and I had the same problem so I installed this older version .

Download the ISO and MD5 test it
Instal unetbootin
Use unetbootin to transfer the ISO to the USB device
Reboo the system and boot to the USB stick, not the internal drive
Does it work ok?

IGS (igs-darkranger) said : #9

Ok , I'll do that .

IGS (igs-darkranger) said : #10

Well, I made a live CD because I realised that I've lost my USB device and the wireless worked without any problem .
And guess what .. now it also works on the version of Ubuntu that I had installed with wubi . I hope that It won't make me any other problems .
Thanks a lot for your help . I owe you for this .
