Can't get Telstra 4g working on Ubuntu 10.04

Asked by julian

Hi,
I have a Telstra 4g prepaid USB modem, a ZTE product, mf821 LTE, that I can't get working on Ubuntu 10.04 (32 bit).
I have tried using the live CD but no success. The modem shows up as a CD on my installed Ubuntu which I unmounted but it still doesn't show up in the connection manager.
I have found some instructions via Google ( http://www.eigenmagic.com/2012/03/14/how-to-get-telstra-4g-mobile-broadband-working-with-linux/ )
But I've been unable to try this work around because I couldn't add a file to the modprobe.d file, something to do with file permissions, I'm not very savvy using the terminal, or very tech' savvy for that matter.
I did run lsusb in the terminal and I've pasted the results.
