Acer One 722 - BCM4313 WiFi problem

Asked by Martin Brada

Hello,

I have solved a lot of problems with Ubuntu since I have it on my acer, which is only couple of days, but this one is really tough. I have not found it in any forum so I have to ask by myself.

Just a short description how it looks - I click on the network, fill in the password and it just keeps trying to connect, but with no result. I mean I cannot connect to any locked (id est where the password is required) network. The strange thing is, the unsecured wifi networks (without password) are no problem and I can connect to them. Furthermore, I have tried external USB wifi router and it works fine in both cases.

Thanks for advice.

Unfortunatelly, this did not help - still unable to connect to the secured network.

I had a similar problem a while ago (Maverick) but I solved it by installing the correct firmware for my network card.

You can try Wicd, an alternative to network-manager.

I have already tried Wicd, but it did not solve that.

ok, reboot and log in and run:

sudo lshw -C network; dmesg | grep -i firm; lsb_release -a; uname -a

What is output?

Thanks

I have actuall already switched to another OS, so I cannot try it. I am just not enjoying I have to fix many things first and it is not useable as it is.

Can you help with this problem?
