ubuntu 11.10 will not recognize my usb wireless device

i installed ubuntu 11.10 and when i connected my wireless usb it won't connect to internet. I did lsusb in terminal and it lists my linksys usb device, but won't connect.

You haven't given any details....

What make and model is the USB device?
Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; lsusb

All we know is some wifi device doesn't work in Oneiric, There are HUNDREDS of wifi chips available...

it's a Linksys ae 2500 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter.

Please run the following and post output so we can know what CHIPSET we're dealing with
lsusb

Also, plugging in the device and looking at the end of dmesg output might tell us something..

On second thought, don't bother with that stuff. I found this thread that gives instructions for ndiswrapper (which is the only way this card works in Linux): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1805830

I hope you're running 32-bit..
