Cant connect to wireless network

Im in Unbuntu Classic on a HP pavillion dv6700 even if i go to system-network connections and try to set it up that way it wont let me please hellppp me

Hello Nonacakes
can you please open terminal and copy and paste this command and press enter. Please note that it will ask for your admin password, please type it in and press enter, it is normal for your password not to show when you type it.

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

now run this command and copy and paste the output back here for review.

lsb_release -a && uname -a && nm-tool && sudo lshw -C network && sudo lsusb -v

Thanks Nonacakes.

looks like your network settings are disabled, if you have a wireless switch on your laptop please make sure its turned on.
then from the network manager menu in the top menu next to the sound settings usually make sure " enable networking" is checked /turned on.

then run
sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
sudo ifconfig etho0 up

switch is turned on and enable networking is turned on jus having a problem connecting to the secured network. thank you so much for all ur help. i might jus have ubuntu switched to windows
