eth%d: 5.100.82.38 driver failed with code 21 -> UNCLAIMED Wireless Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11a/b/g [14e4:4312] (rev 01) not working using newest wl driver on SAMSUNG NC10 in Ubuntu 11.10

Asked by John Arrowsmith

My Samsung nc10 does not connect to the internet wirelessly and does not find the wireless connection in my house, which works okay with other devices. The wireless connection worked until a few days ago, but stopped next time I rebooted. I have reinstalled Ubuntu 11.10 and updated it. I have tried troubleshooting and the help page suggested running the following script in Terminal

(sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hwinfo grep rfkill; sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/interfaces; cat /etc/lsb-release; lspci -nn; lsusb; sudo lshw -short; uname -a; dmesg | egrep 'acx|at76|ath|b43|bcm|brcm|CX|eth|ipw|ireless|irmware|isl|lbtf|orinoco|ndiswrapper|NPE|ound|p54|prism|rtl|rt2|rt3|rt5|rt6|rt7|usb|witch|wl';sudo dmidecode|egrep 'anufact|roduct|erial|elease'; iwconfig; cat /etc/modprobe.d/* | egrep 'acx|at76|ath|b43|bcm|brcm|CX|eth|ipw|irmware|isl|lbtf|orinoco|ndiswrapper|NPE|p54|prism|rtl|rt2|rt3|rt6|rt7|wmi|witch|wl'; cat /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state; sudo hwinfo --netcard ; ps -aux|egrep 'wpa|icd|etwork'; sudo)

and then copying and pasting the result (see below). I hope this is enough information for you to help me. Thanks. John.

Thank you to Andrew and Mark for your suggestions. I tried Mark's first, as this seemed simpler and it worked first time, so I didn't need to try Andrew's. As a first time user of this forum, I am seriously impressed by the level of response.
