Was able to blacklist acer_wmi and now get:

slavina@MiniMao:~$ sudo rfkill list
[sudo] password for slavina:
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

However, though I can enable the wireless, I am unable to detect any wireless connections (even though computer is paced next to router). Wireless switch button does not work (and has never actually done anything).

Solved the problem by installing GNOME alongside and tinkering with the wireless settings there. It now works on both KDE and GNOME. I suspect it was something as simple as making sure to not be connected via ethernet when rebooting.
