How does the Ubuntu system connect to the network?
Can you ping the router?
Can you ping 8.8.8.8?

can you ping the systems IP and / or names?
What are you wanting to link them to achieve? 'link' tells us very little. is one a mail server you want to connect to?

Why didn't you say that instead of 'connect to the network'? There is a world of difference, if you can ping your default gateway (your router in this case), then you are on the network. Connecting to a Windows host for the sake of file sharing is a bit more.

You can ping in a terminal using the command:

ping -c 4 hostname

Change hostname for the Win7 PCs actual hostname

Can you help with this problem?
