Bios hangs with router is on

Asked by joy23

Starting PC with router(ADSL2 router - DNA - A211-I router - Semindia - flextronics ) off but ethernet port is connected.
No problem.

As soon as i start the router and i boot i just hangs during P.O.S.T. or may in Grub.

Another problem is irrelevant to router's condition i suppose i.e. On entering into BIOS it just hangs within 2-5 secs.
I tried changing CMOS battery(Lithium).

Any solutions to the above problem?

Come on man something's going wrong ,

Type a bug of double posted mostly due to a useless internet connection i am stuck with
 dunno how
I gave the bug number of the bug posted previously(1st of double post)so as to link it with this and it linked a different bug.

Either delete this bug or move it to common section .

I am helpless since i cant edit comment i posted,
also cant delete my own bug if i think i didnt post it appropriately.

Any help on these counts are appreciated.

Its not really an ubuntu problem - if its during post -- this happens before the OS is loaded.

I suspect (very much a guess) your router is not running a DHCP, and your system is waiting for a DHCP response, or timeout (this can be as long as a few minutes).

if the network is down, it knows straight away no DHCP can be received, so it can move on much faster.

AFAIK Router is running DHCP
192.168.1.2 --> 254

24 hr lease

Mostly during post but sometimes after grub/during grub/during loging screen/ inside OS(very rare) mostly mouse hangs in there.

Is it possible there could be a short in my back plate of cabinet? will it cause this type of problem?

I am running a Dual Boot system with win 7 64 bit
Problem start the day i plugged a pendrive (a suspect) and change my processor from quad to core2duo.
Since then i removed my graphic card too just to keep it out of perspective.
Deleted partion with windows.

If it hangs during POST, I suggest you post on a hardware forum.

#180983 --> yhanks marco for rejecting that one

and today it hanged in grub.
Counter stopped at 14 .

before that it hanged as soon as this message appeared "Verfying DMI pool data.."

Then finally it came to life.

Please direct me towards a specific reason
"are u sure it's hardware related" ? "and has nothing to do with grub" : "or related to everything else" ;

Can you help with this problem?
