Internet connection through CDMA Modem

I already finished setting up my CDMA modem from terminal in ubuntu 11.10 but unfortunately my web browser doesn't use this connection though it is already connected in terminal. I did the same thing in Ubuntu 8.10 and could access the internet. Could anyone solve this problem?

configure the usb modem from nettools. connect the modem and select mobile broadband from the menu. create new configuration by selecting the appropriate country/operator. your browser will recognize it for sure.
