problem with wireless adapter ubuntu

Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C network; lsb_release -a; sudo rfkill list; dmesg | grep -i firm

Thanks for replying but I could not do sudo or su or log in as root or anything , so I am reinstalling debian now.

The password you give for sudo is your own password, and it's fine that you don't see any placeholder characters (like *) on the screen as you are entering it. If you decide you want to keep using the system you have, the above advice doesn't help, and you want help getting sudo working, please post a separate question for that (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sudo/+addquestion). You can then reopen this question if you decide you want help with this problem, still.
