Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C network; sudo rfkill list; lsb_release -a; dmesg | grep -i firm

just press the "fn" key + F11. this is the way to turn on and off wifi in most of the laptops( in HP, COMPAQ ). just lookout for wifi marking on one of the function keys F1 to F12 and use in in combination with the "fn" key located just by the side of left alt key.

open the "Additional Drivers" menu in installed programs( if using unity
interface) or can be found in system tools if on classic interface. make
sure that you have a wired internet connection connected to your laptop.
search for drivers. it will show any proprietary drivers available for your
laptop. if so, it will download automatically and install. your broadcom
wifi driver should be installd by this way. just try it and leave a reply.
