Setting up PPTP VPN server on Ubuntu

I am looking for a guide how to set-up a PPTP server on Ubuntu Server.

I found several guides in a popular search engine starting with G letter, but unfortunately they were all few years old and collected quite a bit of dust.

Are there any authoritative, up-to-date, instructions for creating PPTP or L2TP server?
