wireless device not ready

I am using a gateway 6020gz laptop. I am running unbuntu 11.4 I had to install the windows wireless driver program to make my wireless work... All was fine till the last update issued. Now I recieve the wireless device not ready firmware not installed...I tried a complete reinstallation of the whole OS and as soon as it updated tothe last update package I lost it again... Please help as I am not a programmer type and do not know where to go or how to fix this... It took me weeks to find out how to make this work with unbuntu in the first place and I Love this OS... I never want to go back to windows....

Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C network; lsb_release -a; sudo rfkill list
