unable to connect to network via Huawei E353

i am using MTNL(mumbai) 3g with unlocked huawei e353 dongle on ubuntu maverick. unable to do so.

Can you reboot and login without the device attached. plug it in, wait 10 seconds then run:

dmesg | tail; lsb_release -a; apt-cache policy usb-modeswitch

I am able to connect now. thanks!
