boot sequence error message

Asked by ComoxLinux

I'm not able to get my wireless internet working in 10.04 LTS on a Dell 910 netbook (upgraded from Hardy Heron - where it worked just fine, but other stuff didn't). I re-installed 10.04 - and bought a new D-link - just in case that was the problem.

There's a message in the boot up about doing something related to wireless - not sure if it's a download or something that has to be changed manually in Terminal. It flashes by so fast I can't read it. Is there a way to call up this boot message so I can read it - or pause in the boot it so I can write it down?

Can you run:

dmesg > ~/dmesg.txt; gedit ~/dmesg.txt

What is output?

I tried a lot of things - and then today, I finally got the wired connection to work and uploaded a lot of updates. One of them solved the wireless problem by adding a broadband utility. Once I put the WEP key in, I connected immediately. Only weird thing is that the connection icon at the top still shows a red exclamation mark and the connection menu says I'm not connected - although I am. I can live with that.

Thanks anyway. I'm telling you, I've been pulling my hair out for days on this.
